“Birds Are Singing in Kigali” Gets the Beyond Borders Prize and the Best Actress Award at the XIV Polish Film Festival in New York / by Ada Zielinska

Birds Are Singing in Kigali has been awarded with the Beyond Borders Krzysztof Kieslowski Prize for the Best Film of this year’s edition of the New York Polish Film Festival and with the Best Actress Prize for Eliane Umuhire. The film, presented at the festival’s Gala Opening in the DGA Theatre, attracted numerous enthusiastic reactions of the New York audiences.  

Birds Are Singing in Kigali has been a highlight of the festival’s annual program, presenting the best of Polish cinema. The festival shown feature and documentary films, produced last year, among others Agnieszka Holland’s Spoor, Kasia Adamik’s Amok, Lukasz Palkowski’s Breaking the Limits, and Janusz Majewski’s The Eccentrics: On the Sunny Side of the Street.
