Special Jury Award for the “Birds Are Singing in Kigali” at the 23rd Kolkata Film Festival 2017 / by Ada Zielinska

Birds Are Singing in Kigali by Joanna Kos-Krauze and Krzysztof Krauze got the Special Jury Award of the 23rd edition of the Kolkata International Film Festival that took place between November 10th – 17th. The film was presented within the Innovation in Moving Images competition, among fourteen feature films from around the world.

Birds Are Singing in Kigali got very good reviews of the Indian audiences and will be soon shown in the programs of the next film festivals in India, notably International Film Festival of Kerala commencing on December 8th.

Kolkata Film Festival featured numerous best films of the world cinema this year, among others Naomi Kawase’s Radiance, Tony Gatlif’s Djam, Gilles Bourdos’ Endangered Spices, or Takashi Miike’s Blade of the Immortal, while the festival’s Opening Gala was attended by the biggest stars of the Bollywood Cinema – Amitabh Bachchan, Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan.
