Silver Lions, Best Actress Prizes and the Best Editing for “Birds Are Singing in Kigali” at the Gdynia Film Festival / by Ada Zielinska

Birds Are Singing in Kigali by Joanna Kos-Krauze and Krzysztof Krauze won the prestigious Silver Lions Prize at this year’s Gdynia Film Festival. Jowita Budnik and Eliane Umuhire have been awarded with the Best Actress Prize, while Katarzyna Lesniak got the Best Editing Prize.

The oldest and the biggest of the Polish film festivals, Gdynia Film Festival had its 42nd edition between 18th and 23rd Sept. this year and as usually attracted numerous industry members and the general audiences. The Jury headed by Jerzy Antczak comprised of Pawel Pawlikowski, Andrzej Jakimowski, Agnieszka Grochowska, and Wlodek Pawlik among others. 

Gdynia Film Festival presented seventeen feature length films in its Main Competition this year, including “Spoor” by Agnieszka Holland, Urszula Antoniak’s “Beyond Words”, and “Loving Vincent” by Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman among others.
